વડોદરાના ક્લિનિકલ સાયકોલોજિસ્ટ ડૉ. નાસિર મંસુરીનું સ્વાગત કરતા મને ખૂબ આનંદ થાય છે. ડૉ. મંસુરી છેલ્લા ૧૩ વર્ષથી લોટસ ગ્રુપ ઓફ સ્કૂલ્સ સાથે જોડાયેલા છે અને દર વર્ષે સેંકડો વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અને વાલીઓને મદદ કરે છે.
ડૉ. શ્રીમતી શેલાટ એક પ્રખ્યાત શિક્ષણશાસ્ત્રી, લેખિકા અને શિક્ષક ટ્રેનર છે. અને તેઓ આપણી શાળાના શૈક્ષણિક સલાહકારોમાંના એક છે તે આપણું સદ્ભાગ્ય છે.
સાચું જ કહેવાયું છે કે ખાસ પ્રવૃત્તિઓ માટે ખાસ આહારની જરૂર હોય છે. આજના સમયમાં આપણે શું ખાઈએ છીએ તે અંગે ચિંતા વધી રહી છે. તમારામાંથી ઘણાને શંકા હશે કે ખોરાકની ટેવને અભ્યાસની ટેવ અને પરીક્ષાના પ્રદર્શન સાથે શું લેવાદેવા છે! ડૉ. મંજુ શ્રોફ સાથે વાતચીત કરતી વખતે તમને કેટલીક રસપ્રદ હકીકતો જાણવા મળશે.
આજના વૈશ્વિકીકરણના યુગમાં અંતર એ સંચારમાં કોઈ અવરોધ નથી. એડિનબર્ગ યુનિવર્સિટીમાંથી પ્રો. રે મેકી ઓનલાઇન આપણી સાથે છે, જે વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અને વાલીઓ સાથે કામ કરવાનો તેમનો આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય અનુભવ શેર કરશે. હું આપ સૌનું સ્વાગત કરું છું અને વધુ વિલંબ કર્યા વિના વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અને વાલીઓને પ્રશ્નો પૂછવા માટે આમંત્રિત કરું છું.

Anuj: હવે વિદ્યાર્થીઓ તરફથી આગામી પ્રશ્ન.
Student-1: સર, કદાચ મને અત્યારે ભૂખ લાગી છે કારણ કે મારા માતાપિતા મને જે ગમે છે તે ખાવા દેતા નથી.
Anuj: મને લાગે છે કે આ પ્રશ્ન ચોક્કસપણે ડાયેટિશિયન માટે છે. બેટા, તું અમને કહી શકે છે કે તને સૌથી વધુ શું ખાવાનું ગમે છે? અને તારું નામ પણ કહે.
Student-1: મારૂ નામ પ્રિયાંશી છે. અને ઓહ... મેડમ, મને ડબલ ચીઝ સાથે પિઝા ખૂબ ગમે છે. ચીઝ કે બટરવાળી દાબેલી મારી ફેવરિટ છે. બર્ગર ખાવાના તો સપના આવે છે. ચીપ્સ/વેફર્સ અને કોલ્ડ ડ્રિંક્સ મારો પ્રિય ટાઈમપાસ છે. પણ.... મારી મમ્મી મને હોસ્પિટલનું ખાવાનું (સાદું ખાવાનું) આપે છે. શું અભ્યાસ અને હું જે ખોરાક ખાવ છું તેની વચ્ચે કોઈ સંબંધ છે? મને ખરેખર આશ્ચર્ય થાય છે.
Dr Shroff: પ્રિયાંશી, તું સાચી ભોજનપ્રેમી લાગે છે... મને તારી સહજતા ગમી. બેટા, હા, તું જે ખોરાક ખાય છે અને તારા મગજની પ્રવૃત્તિઓ વચ્ચે ચયાપચય (metabolism) દ્વારા સીધો સંબંધ છે. ભારે ખોરાક રક્તપ્રવાહને પાચનતંત્ર તરફ વાળે છે, જેના પરિણામે મગજની પ્રવૃત્તિ ધીમી પડી જાય છે. ભારે ભોજન લીધા પછી તને ઊંઘ, આળસ અને સુસ્તી અનુભવાઈ જ હશે. શું આ તારા અભ્યાસને અસર કરતું નથી? આખરે, અભ્યાસ માટે સક્રિય મગજની જરૂર પડે છે. ચરબીયુક્ત ખોરાક લેવાને બદલે, પચવામાં સરળ અને હલકો ખોરાક લેવાનું પસંદ કરો જેમાં પૂરતા પ્રમાણમાં સૂપ, જ્યુસ, દાળ, દૂધ, છાશ/લસ્સી વગેરે હોય. કાચા શાકભાજી અને ફળો પુષ્કળ ખાઓ. વધારે પડતું ન ખાઓ. લાંબા ગાળે તે સ્વાસ્થ્ય માટે સારું નથી. યાદ રાખો, "જે વિદ્યાર્થી ખાવામાં હળવો, તે ભણવામાં તેજસ્વી (bright)."
Student-2: હેલો ડૉ. મંસુરી સર, હું કંદર્પ છું. મેં ક્યાંક વાંચ્યું છે "બોર્ડની પરીક્ષા માટે પોતાને ટ્યુન અપ કરો". શું તમે સમજાવી શકો કે તેનો અર્થ શું થાય?
Dr Mansuri: પ્રિય, તું ૧૦ માં કે ૧૨ માં ધોરણમાં લાગે છે.
