શાલૂ: વીણા, હું સ્પોર્ટ્સ રેલીમાં ભાગ લેવા માંગુ છું. પણ મને ખાતરી નથી કે હું તે કરી શકીશ કે નહીં. મારા પગ સામે જો. તેમાં ઈજા થઈ છે! હું શું કરું?
વીણા: વાહલી મિત્ર, ઉદાસ ન થા. શું તેં પ્રખ્યાત પર્વતારોહી અરુણિમા સિંહાનું નામ નથી સાંભળ્યું?
શાલૂ: ના, મેં નથી સાંભળ્યું. તે કોણ છે?
વીણા: તે રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તરની વોલીબોલ ખેલાડી હતી. કેટલાક લૂંટારાઓ દ્વારા તેને ચાલુ ટ્રેનમાંથી બહાર ફેંકી દેવામાં આવી હતી. તે એટલી ગંભીર રીતે ઘાયલ થઈ હતી કે તેનો એક પગ કાપવો પડ્યો હતો.

વીણા: હા, તેઓ આપણને પ્રેરણા આપે છે. તું પણ રમતોમાં સારી છે. મને ખબર છે કે તું કરી શકે છે!
શાલૂ: તું સાચી છે. હવે હું ભાગ લઈશ અને મારો સર્વશ્રેષ્ઠ પ્રયાસ કરીશ.
વીણા: આ થઈ ને મારા સારા મિત્ર જેવી વાત! આપણા બધામાં કેટલાક ખાસ ગુણો હોય છે. આપણે આપણા પર વિશ્વાસ રાખવો જોઈએ.
શાલૂ: ચોક્કસ! હું મારું સર્વશ્રેષ્ઠ આપવા માટે સખત મહેનત કરીશ.
વીણા: એટલા માટે તો આપણા કોચ હંમેશા કહે છે, "હંમેશા કહો કે 'હું કરી શકું છું', ક્યારેય ન કહો કે 'હું નથી કરી શકતો'."
૧. આ વાર્તા શક્તિનગર નામના ગામમાં તેના માતા-પિતા અને દાદા-દાદી સાથે રહેતી રીતિકા નામની અગિયાર વર્ષની છોકરીની છે. રીતિકા ખૂબ જ દયાળુ છોકરી હતી. તે તેની આસપાસના દરેકની, ખાસ કરીને ગામના વૃદ્ધ લોકોની સંભાળ રાખતી અને મદદ કરતી.

૭. તે પથારીવશ તેના બીમાર દાદીને દવાઓ આપવાનું હંમેશા યાદ રાખતી. તમામ કામો સાથે તે ભણવામાં પણ હોશિયાર હતી.
બધા ગામલોકોને રીતિકા પર ગર્વ હતો અને તેના પ્રેમાળ અને કાળજી રાખનારા સ્વભાવને કારણે તેઓ તેને ખૂબ પ્રેમ કરતા હતા.
